Skills to Help AP Pros Communicate With the Opposite Gender

It’s been well documented that men and women communicate in different ways. Numerous books have been written on the topic. The issue, although rarely addressed in accounts payable publications, is especially important to all those professionals who have bosses and subordinates of the opposite sex. Of course, that means virtually everyone. Speaking at the recent NAPCP conference, Kathy DeBoer, former basketball player, winning coach, and now Commissioner of General Services, provided advice on working with and for the opposite sex. Based on her insightful book, Gender and Competition: How Men and Women Approach Work and Play Differently, she presented a clear-cut game plan to help attendees communicate effectively.
