At IOMA’s 4th Annual AP Conference & Expo in New York City, this editor was pleased to present the AP Manager of the Year Award to Lyndell Wright, manager, AP and OneCard administration at TEPPCO, an oil and gas services company in Houston. Since her promotion to the manager’s position two years ago, she has been a tireless engine of change at the company. During Wright’s tenure, the AP department has more than doubled in size and has centralized its processes. Some of the things Wright has accomplished include taking over the corporate p-card program from purchasing and combining it with the T&E card into a "one card" under a new vendor. Before, the purchasing and T&E cards were used only sporadically. Now, the OneCard accounts for 80% of the company’s business. This consistent usage, says Wright, has paid off: In its first year, the company earned $200,000 in rebates. Plus, the effective management of the OneCard program has improved AP’s relations with purchasing.
