The number of invoices that are outsourced for processing will double over the next five years, predicts the Gartner Group, a leading business technology research firm. They say more than 90 million invoices are currently processed using so-called AP BPO (business process outsourcing) providers, which is a tiny portion of the total number of invoices processed worldwide. AP BPO includes invoice receipt, verification and matching with purchase order, authorization, assigning payment form (check, wire, or automated clearinghouse), and disbursement.
