Three-quarters of companies polled say they have some level of automation for managing employee travel and entertainment (T&E) expenses, according to a new report from the Aberdeen Group. The use of automated solutions has risen 19 percent since Aberdeens last report in 2007 because of the need to better manage T&E policy compliance, improve spend visibility, streamline processes, and cut costs. On the AccountsPayable360 Web site (www.accountspayable360.com), a regular mini-poll is conducted. One recent question asked about the use of social networking sites by AP professionals. Over two-thirds of respondents say they do use a social networking site regularly, the most popular being Facebook and LinkedIn (see chart below). MAP expects the use of these sites to grow as AP professionals discover the value of networking with their colleagues.

Problem: The month-end close for AP can be a real thorn in the side, especially when accrual information is not readily available.
