  • I have worked in AP for over 21 years, as a manager, for the same company. I bought into getting the study guide and taking the online test. I feel the on-line test is a joke and a waste of money; for me anyway. I tried to study the entire guide, there are many areas in the Study Guide that does not pertain to what I do as we have specific departments for various thing such as Sales/use tax just for an example. In any event, I took the test 2 times and of course did not pass; and was not told what questions I got wrong in order to brush up on that area...so i tried to study the entire book, again (while working and taking care of my disabled husband and three grandchildren) and to no avail. So, if I am not going to be told what I got wrong, not have enough time to complete it, and just an email stating I did not pass, I feel this is a real waste of my time and money. Plus, I know my job or I would not have been kept on for this long, this 'Certification' was a real stab to my confidence, even though I know I am a good manager, and my Director knows they never have to worry about our AP department, etc. Then there are other Certifications thru the IAPP....CAPP and CAPM.....which one do you really need?
