Mileage Reimbursement Tax Trap

The Internal Revenue Service recently increased the optional business standard mileage rates from 50.5 cents per mile to 58.5 cents per mile effective July 1. This is the rate you can reimburse employees on a tax-free basis for the business use of their personal cars. But employees may have a tax issue if employers reimburse for less than the standard rate.
