Accounts Payable Certification

Payables professionals recognize that the ongoing evolution of an organization's AP department means constant training and re-training. In fact, much of the work done today in AP has been developed in just the last five years -- some of it as recently as two years ago.

AP professionals are expected to control costs by using the latest electronic processing technologies, to work intuitively with every system and department within an organization, and to comply with the stringent requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Section 404.

With the IOMA/TAPN Accounts Payable Certification Programs, AP Professionals have the opportunity to prove their abilities, better serve their employing organizations and to distinguish themselves.

Why become a credentialed AP professional?

  • Becoming a certified AP Specialist or Manager proves you are eager to learn and advance in your profession as well as serve your profession.
  • Passing a comprehensive exam on your AP competency level demonstrates empirically your level of expertise and commitment.
  • Credentialed employees are immediately viewed as more valuable to the organization.
  • Concomitant with your certification comes the recognition of your demonstrated experience and ability.
  • Certification places you into the elite group of accredited professionals across the country whose skills are recognized and acknowledged.
  • Participating in the IOMA/TAPN Accounts Payable Certification Programs is the single best way to say to the world, "I am not only an Accounts Payable professional, I am good at it."

What's the next step?

  • First, decide whether the Accredited Payables Manager or Accredited Payables Specialist certification program is right for you.
  • If you are a Manager, do you want to get your department certified? Are their others in the department who should get the same training?
  • Then decide whether self study or an IOMA AP Training Course is right for you. In either case you may opt to take the exam online.
  • Test your Accounts Payable IQ with 30 short questions. Give us 7 minutes and we'll give you your AP IQ. Each of your staff can take it too!
  • If you choose, self-study, decide whether the online training program www.cognistar.com/iomaaponlinetrainingpromo would be helpful to you.
  • If you chose AP Training Course, review the Training Course schedule http://www.accountspayable360.com/conferences/ to see if attending makes sense, or we can tailor the instruction specifically to you, training your AP Department at your facility and at your convenience. (Contact Eric Fink directly at efink@ioma.com if the latter option makes sense to you.)

What do IOMA members say about the IOMA/TAPN AP Certification training programs?

"I strongly suggest that any one who is an AP Professional take the [IOMA/TAPN] test and become certified. Certification helps support the level of expertise that is required to be an AP professional in today's workplace." Rachel C. Wilson, APS, Sandia National Labs

"The program was awesome. I learned a great deal and also got lots of information that we are talking about implementing in the upcoming year. I would recommend this program for anyone who wants to advance their AP department into the future." Linda Jo Blinda, APM, American Dental Partners

"I would definitely recommend the program to other AP personnel. I have about 5-1/2 years of AP experience, but I still learned so much - much more than I thought I would." Terra Grieshaber, APM, CarrAmerica Realty
