With corporate expectations of today's payables professionals at an all-time high, IOMA is pleased to offer the comprehensive certification programs for AP departments, managers and specialist.
Payables professionals like you recognize that the ongoing evolution of the AP department means constant training and re-training. In fact, much of the work you do today has been developed in just the last five yearsand some of it as recently as two years ago.
This has led to greater pressure on busy AP departments than anyone would have thought possible a few years ago. You're expected to control costs by using the latest electronic processing technologies, to work intuitively with every system and department within the organization, and to comply with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Section 404.
Other professions such as payroll, treasury, purchasing, and credit have long offered professional accreditation. But, AP professionals like you have had few ways to clearly demonstrate your expertise within your organization or to outside agencies, until now.
Finally, there's an authoritative training and certification program for the accounts payable professional and departmentthe Accounts Payable Certification Programs, developed by IOMA and The Accounts Payable Network. The credentialing plan helps AP pros meet standards for the profession. And it recognizes those who, by possessing related work experience and passing a comprehensive exam, have met stringent requirements for mastering the accounts payable body of knowledge.
The Accredited Payables Manager (APM) is designed for the manager who has not only mastered the basics of accounts payable, but has also demonstrated the knowledge and skills required at the managerial level.
The Accredited Payables Specialist (APS) designation is for the staff professional who has been working for several years and has demonstrated the knowledge and skills required to excel in the accounts payable function.
The Accredited Payables Department (APD) requires that a minimum of 60% of the members of an organization's accounts payable department, excluding clerks, have earned the APS or APM certification. Departments achieving an 85% certification rate will receive Platinum Certification.
